Star Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has found himself at the center of intense speculation regarding his future with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) following the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
The young opener’s cryptic social media post, which he later edited, sparked widespread discussion about a potential exit from the franchise.
Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered an outstanding performance in IPL 2025, solidifying his reputation as one of India’s brightest cricketing talents. Despite Rajasthan Royals’ disappointing season, where they won only four matches and failed to qualify for the playoffs, Jaiswal emerged as the team’s standout performer, amassing 559 runs in 14 matches, boasting an impressive average of 43 and a strike-rate of 159.71.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Social Media Post Shakes Rajasthan Royals Fans
Following RR’s final match of the season where they registered a six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 20, Jaiswal took to Instagram to reflect on the campaign. His initial post read:
"Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but grateful for the journey. On to the next challenge and whatever the future brings YBJ 64."
This raised eyebrows as netizens predicted Jaiswal’s potential departure from Rajasthan Royals.
The speculation intensified due to RR’s retention decisions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The franchise retained six key players, including Jaiswal and Sanju Samson at INR 18 crore each, alongside Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma.
However, the release of high-profile players like Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult fueled rumors of internal changes, adding weight to the idea that Jaiswal might also be considering his options.
In response to the growing rumors, Jaiswal edited his Instagram caption to clarify his stance. The revised post read:
"Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but continue to be grateful for our journey together. On to the next challenge 🇮🇳 and whatever the future brings YBJ 64."
The addition of "continue" and "together," along with an Indian flag emoji, suggested that Jaiswal was referring to his upcoming international commitments, particularly India’s tour of England, starting in June, rather than signaling an exit from RR.
Notably, Jaiswal had also decided to shift his domestic base to Goa from Mumbai but later changed his mind.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Journey with Rajasthan Royals
Jaiswal’s association with Rajasthan Royals began in 2020 when he was signed for INR 2.4 crore. Initially seen as a long-term prospect, he had limited game time in his debut season but gradually established himself as a key opener alongside Jos Buttler.
His breakthrough came in IPL 2023, when he scored 625 runs at an average of 48.08 and a strike-rate of 163.61, including a record-breaking fastest fifty in the IPL history (13 balls) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In 2024, he notched an unbeaten 104-run knock against Mumbai Indians (MI), further cementing his importance to the team.
RR’s faith in Jaiswal was evident in their decision to retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 auction for INR 18 crore.
