Gujarat Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill stepped onto the field to chase a tricky total on a slow surface. Mohammed Shami was given the new ball by Pat Cummins. Sai Sudharsan, who began his innings in his usual style, was the first wicket to fall. He attempted to break the deadlock but was caught by Aniket Verma in the square leg region. Sudharsan mistimed a pull shot off a short delivery, and the crowd in Uppal erupted as he was dismissed for just 5 runs off 9 balls.

Pat Cummins maintained the momentum for SRH and claimed another crucial wicket, dismissing Jos Buttler for a duck on just his third ball, caught by Heinrich Klaasen. This left Gujarat Titans at a precarious 17 for 2 after four overs, with Washington Sundar now at the crease alongside Shubman Gill.

To relieve the pressure, Gill smashed 11 runs off Shami’s third over, hitting consecutive boundaries. Sundar then exploded in the final over of the powerplay, scoring 20 runs off Simarjeet Singh's over with 2 fours and 2 sixes. His aggressive batting surprised everyone in the stadium, and at the end of the powerplay, Gujarat Titans reached 48 for 2 despite losing their inform batter.

Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar continued to find boundaries, showcasing firm control against SRH's solid bowling attack. Despite Pat Cummins trying various tactics, he was unable to secure a breakthrough.

The pair added 50 runs for the third wicket, with Sundar’s free-flowing approach in this chase surprising his former team, Sunrisers Hyderabad. After not bowling in the first innings, when the opportunity arose with the bat, he delivered powerfully, finishing the first 10 overs at 40 not out off 20 balls, taking Gujarat Titans to 82 for 2. Now they needed just 71 runs in the last 10 overs to secure their third consecutive victory.

Despite a strong start with the ball from SRH, which included the dismissal of key batters, Washington Sundar took control of the game, putting the Gujarat Titans in a commanding position to win.
