Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium by eight wickets.
Chasing 172 runs, PBKS stormed out of the gates with Prabhsimran Singh tearing into the LSG bowlers. Priyansh Arya’s early exit for eight runs in Digvesh Rathi’s opening over brought captain Shreyas Iyer to the crease.
Prabhsimran stole the spotlight, unfurling a breathtaking assault. He blazed to a 23-ball fifty, the quickest IPL half-century notched in Lucknow, carving fours and sixes with audacious flair. By the powerplay’s end, PBKS were cruising at 62/1 as Prabhsimran’s audacity peaked with a monstrous six off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling in the sixth over.

The onslaught did not relent. Prabhsimran toyed with LSG’s spinners. At the 10-over mark, PBKS sat pretty at 110/1 with 62 runs left to conquer in the final 60 balls.
A fielding brilliance gave LSG a chance to celebrate. Prabhsimran, hungry for more, lofted Digvesh's googly skyward only for Ayush Badoni to pluck a jaw-dropping catch at deep mid-wicket, flicking it to Bishnoi for a relay stunner. The swashbuckling batter got dismissed after scoring 69 runs off 34 balls.
Enter Nehal Wadhera, the Impact Player, who strode in at No. 4 and wasted no time stamping his mark. A backfoot punch off Digvesh raced to the point boundary, oozing confidence.

Iyer flicked the switch, morphing into a beast. Wadhera followed the footsteps of his skipper and smashed Bishnoi for two sixes and a four in the 14th over. The southpaw then took the attack to Shardul Thakur and treated him with three boundaries, including two maximums and a four in the 16th over.
Iyer finished off the run-chase in style with a six and completed his fifty in the process. Punjab Kings won by eight wickets with 22 balls to spare. Iyer and Wadhera finished unbeaten at 52 and 43 runs respectively.
Prabhsimran was named Player of the Match for his performance. With this victory, PBKS moved to second position on the points table, while LSG dropped down to sixth spot.
