MSG batter Nicholas Pooran has been the driving force behind their innings after the loss of early wickets in their first home game of IPL 2025 LSG are taking on Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday.
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. He said that he chose to bowl as they are playing on a new wicket and they wanted to assess the pitch first.
Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mitchell Marsh in the fourth ball of his first over for a duck. Aiden Markram (28 runs off 18 balls) scored at a strike rate of 150 and after smacking Lockie Ferguson for a four and a six was cleaned up by the Kiwi pacer.

Rishabh Pant Continues To Struggle With The Bat For LSG
The poor run continued for LSG skipper Rishabh Pant (2 runs off five balls) as he picked out Yuzvendra Chahal inside the circle. After the loss of early wicket, it is Nicholas Pooran who has taken their innings forward. The southpaw played some lovely shots and along with Ayush Badoni is trying to strike a partnership. After 10 overs, LSG have scored 76/3 with Pooran being the key batter.
Nicholas Pooran is leading the Orange Cap list as well and needs to play another good innings for LSG. He has already scored two fifties in the tournament so far and can do well if he scores his third. The PBKS bowlers, on the other hand, are looking to dismiss him as soon as possible before he starts hitting all-round the park.

"We are going to bowl first. It's a new ground, new pitch, dew could be a factor as well and this being a red-soil pitch, we want to chase. The players have the freedom to express themselves. You have to play the situation, the important goal is to win. We try to keep things simple. We don't know how the pitch is going to play but we have to adjust quickly. Lockie comes into the team" Shreyas Iyer said at the toss.
