Former BCCI chairman, N. Srinivasan, the powerhouse administrator, made his grand return to take over the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited operations as Chairman. The 80-year-old will oversee the operations of the Super Kings group, including Chennai Super Kings and its subsidiary teams like Joburg Super Kings in South Africa and Texas Super Kings in the USA.

N. Srinivasan was long absent from the chairman role of CSK, and his daughter, Rupa Gurunath, one of the directors, has been involved in the operation with the help of Kasi Viswanathan, who is the Managing Director and CEO of CSKCL.

The change in administration was announced by one of the directors, with the reason being the expanding venture of CSKCL and the need for the most experienced person to look after the operations.

"At a time when world and franchise cricket are changing, the company needs his experience and wisdom to navigate through all the changes," said one of the directors.

As per the latest communication from CSKCL, Srinivasan (80) has been a director of the company since February 2025. He was appointed Chairman on May 10, 2025. - as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) has scheduled its Eleventh Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 11:00 AM IST on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The meeting will be held virtually via video conferencing (VC) or other audio-visual means (OAVM). Among the key items on the agenda is the reappointment of N. Srinivasan and Rupa Gurunath as directors.

While Srinivasan has maintained a low public profile in recent years, insiders say he remains deeply involved in CSK’s operations, particularly as the franchise grows its footprint in overseas leagues. CSK has already established subsidiary teams in South Africa and the US. Sources add that Srinivasan is a strong proponent of setting up high-performance centres and academies in multiple locations as part of a long-term vision.

N. Srinivasan, who has trusted and backed Mahendra Singh Dhoni since 2008, the duo once ruled world cricket with their dominant run. With the boss returning to the chair, the highly anticipated return of MS Dhoni to play for CSK in IPL 2026 could well materialise.
